On October 9th 2023, the Cluster for Logistics and the Chamber of Commerce organised the fifth edition of the Best Student Awards. As a sign of appreciation for their achievements, the Cluster for Logistics awards every year the best young logistics students in Luxembourg. This year, seven apprentices were honored for the Diplôme de Technicien en Logistique (DT Logistics), and the Cluster awarded the two best students from the Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management of the University of Luxembourg.

To overcome today's complex challenges, competent and talented logisticians and supply chain experts are trained year after year in Luxembourg within the Diplôme de Technicien en Logistique and in the Master Program at the University of Luxembourg.

Malik Zeniti and Daniel Kohl, Directors of the Cluster, welcomed the participants. Next Jil Brimaire, Logistics Development Advisor at the Cluster, presented the DT Logistics highlights of 2023. Then, Anne Berchem, economic sciences teacher at the Lycée Technique de Lallange elaborated on the developments and challenges in the DT Logistics program.

Next, Julian Schweisthal, Senior Operations and Technical Services at Global Airlift Solutions, elaborated on his career and personal journey after his logistics apprenticeship ended almost 10 years ago.

Anne Calteux, Head of the Commission Representation in Luxembourg, gave a keynote speech in the context of the European Year of Skills: ‘Skills are the new gold’. Skills are essential to master the digital and green transition, which also represent key challenges in the logistics sector. Skills need to be matched with the labor market. Thus, the workforce needs to be trained for new job opportunities related to the twin transition.

The certificates and awards were handed over by Steve Hoffmann on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and Cluster Director Daniel Kohl. The DT Logistics students also received a Letzshop voucher from the Cluster for Logistics.

The Cluster for Logistics took the opportunity to thank the various Luxembourgish companies that are ready to train students in all areas and allow their outstanding employees to serve as teachers, without whom practical experience would be difficult to share.

The Chamber of Commerce has been strongly involved in initial training in various sectors for many years and gladly supports the apprenticeship of the Diplôme de Technicien en Logistique. The counselors of the WinWin program work closely with students and companies to ensure a successful apprenticeship.
